“Before people ever make an appointment, they’ve already taken the biggest step, which is deciding that they want things to be different.”

FAQs
Once I receive your enquiry, I will respond as soon as possible, usually within 1-2 working days.
We can arrange a free 20-minute introductory conversation to discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have and explore whether we’re the right fit to work together. There is no obligation to continue after this initial contact. Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I encourage you to choose someone you feel comfortable with.
If you are happy to go ahead, we can then schedule and initial assessment session. This session gives us time to explore what type of therapy you might prefer and what you might like to get out of sessions.
With young people under 18, a parent or carer will need to come along to this assessment session. Together we can work on identifying goals for therapy and make sure they feel safe and supported throughout the process. It is then recommended that the young person attends therapy independently.
Your privacy is important. Any information you share when you contact me will be treated with care and confidentiality, in line with BACP professional and ethical standards.
I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your journey towards greater calm, connection, and growth.
Sessions cost £60 for 50 minutes and £85 for 90 minutes. The cost is the same for online, telephone, face-to-face indoor or outdoor therapy.
I offer reduced fees for those claiming benefits and for students (please contact me for further details).
Your first session is where we can get to know each other, build trust and begin to develop a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to share your experiences. We will talk about what has brought you to therapy and any expectations around what you would like to achieve from sessions.
You will never be expected to share anything you are uncomfortable with and we will work at your pace. You will be in control of what you want to talk about and what kind of therapy you would like to consider.
Most importantly, I will offer a calm, safe and reflective space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in a way which feels comfortable to you.
Usually, people prefer to meet at the same day and time each week to help provide consistency and structure. However, I understand that working patterns and caring commitments may make this difficult so we will work in a way which suits your needs.
Sometimes, after meeting weekly initially, some clients prefer to move to fortnightly sessions as they want to commit to longer term therapy and this fits more easily into their lives.
The number of sessions a client needs varies from person to person. I usually recommend allowing for at least six sessions initially. We will regularly review how therapy is going to ensure it continues to feel helpful and is meeting your goals.
